The Passover Experience (2025)

You can read a book. You can watch a movie. You can even hear a testimony from someone else about the Passover; however, until you experience a Passover Seder for yourself it will be difficult to fully understand it.

The first Passover in the Bible was the defining event for the Jewish people. At that first Passover the children of Israel were set free from slavery, they were released from Egypt, and they began a journey with God to the Promised Land.

The original Passover event was so significant that God commanded that the children of Israel keep it year by year even after they entered the Promised Land. It was approximately 1500 years later that another significant event occurred on Passover: the Messiah was crucified as the Passover Lamb. Both the Old and New Testaments are essentially built upon the foundation of Passover. The Communion Service that believers partake of today was taken from a Passover Seder, commonly known as The Last Supper.

Have you ever experienced a Passover Seder?

Traveling outside of Israel over the past several years, I am surprised to learn how few Christians have actually taken part in a Passover Seder. Since publishing my own Passover Experience Book (Haggadah) in March of 2024, I am making myself available each spring season to lead groups through a traditional Messianic Passover Seder.

What does a Messianic Passover Seder look like?

A traditional Passover Seder includes the following:

  • Reading through a Passover Haggadah (book) which includes blessings, songs, Scriptures, and explanations for The Feast of Passover & The Feast of Unleavened Bread.

  • Remembering the first Passover by means of various activities.

  • An explanation of the Jewish traditions of Passover and how they connect to the Bible.

  • Tasting the various foods of Passover and understanding their biblical significance and meaning.

  • A full Passover meal including dessert.

  • Activities for all ages, including children, throughout the event.

In addition to the above list, the Messianic Passover also uniquely includes:

  • A full integration of The Last Supper in The Passover Seder as we see it in the Bible.

  • An explanation of how the Jewish people are constantly looking for a Messianic fulfillment at Passover.

  • Participation in a Communion Service as found in the context of Passover.

Duration for the Messianic Passover Seder: Approximately 3 hours
