Shalom Daniel,
this part of Gen 2:2 caught my attention: „And on the seventh day, God finished the work which He had made“ – it was especially the word „finished“ that jumped out.
I often heard that the human being is the „crown of creation“, the most important thing because we were made in the image of God and we were the last thing God created. But the vers above shows to me that God did not end creation on day 6. He could have done that easily, but he created the 7th day. He knew that we are in need of time with him in his rest. He provided time for us to come to him. For as Jesus said in John 15:5 „without me you can do nothing“. It is amazing to see that through God‘s timing in creation he made that point very clear. Adam and Eve started their life with this day in Gods rest and time with him. Sure, we are called to live our daily life in relationship with God but how often are our days overloaded and we are barely able to make time for God. Maybe we should think about the 7th day to be the most important thing in creation for it stands for the relationship God wants to have with us.
Blessings

Thanks for the comments Sara. The seventh day is certainly a crowning jewel and gift to mankind, however, the Scriptures do not say that God created the seventh day but that God sanctified and blessed the seventh day. The seventh day is set apart as holy to the LORD. -Daniel
Daniel, what an awesome and eye opening teaching on the Sabbath. You brought it full circle from the time of creation, through the Sabbath in the desert, the law, and feasts and to us today. I watched this so many times to absorb all its meaning. I will go back to the Revelation study to review the number 7 again. I knew the Jewish observance of the Sabbath talked about Gods creation but this has made me so aware of how awesome Gods creation is and for that we should worship Him. He wants us to know continually how awesome He creation work is. I will now keep that in mind every week and thank Him for it and for our rest!
Thanks Rose. Yes, it is amazing to see how God’s Word records the details of God’s plans and how it is all woven together in His perfect order.
